ABOUT ALISON

 

BORN into a Southern family – my mother’s family was from the low country of South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia, and my father was from North Carolina, as am I. 

STUDIED at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I majored in Communications Public Policy, History and Political Science.

WORKED for renowned New York fashion magazine houses, a British international television production company, auction house, indie film production and distribution companies, an archival library, and a cutting edge biotech company.

LIVED in North Carolina, Connecticut, New York City, London, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

TRAVELLED throughout fourteen countries in Western Europe, Greece, North and Central America.

RAISED 24 year old son, Jack, 20 year old daughter, Ella, and dog, Lily.

LOVE being with my kids, the pace of the countryside, long drives, hikes with friends, dinner parties, dogs, music, film.  

DABBLE in singing, poetry, cooking, and bird watching.

READING The Source of Self-Regard, Toni Morrison, The Art of Memoir, Mary Karr, The Complete Stories, Flannery O’Connor, and a pile of ear-marked issues of The New Yorker.
